Getting mentioned, generating backlinks, and building that online presence on major sites—without pitching to them
Tell me, who doesn’t want to get noticed as a business running in this era of online presence?
And what’s better than getting published (or) being mentioned on sites like Forbes, Entrepreneur, and HuffPost?
So far, We have seen most marketers and founders jump on a mission to do extreme PR, like buying services on Fiverr (Which are useless).
But what if you’re not finding a way to be in front of these editors of the top media sites, and even if you did, you’re unable to establish that much-needed credibility for being considered on their content?
If you do, fall in either of the cases. Here, we’re sharing a couple of strategies that have personally worked for our clients in getting mentioned, generating backlinks, and building that online presence they needed.
Do you want to get your brand/business mentioned on top media outlets like Forbes, Entrepreneur, Mashable, etc?
1) Creating Data-Driven ‘Statistics’ Content On Your Blog
Creating a stats page is nothing but crafting a blog post that shares stats relevant to your industry, and these stats sometimes can help you conclude statements into facts about your niche using data that you’ve acquired.
In simple terms, a post that talks about stats about a relevant topic within your industry.
A lot of parts are involved in creating a stats page for your blog. This means from picking suitable topics to conducting surveys to acquiring data, understanding that data, and analyzing the new data against the old one to come up with exciting facts/conclusions.
There are three major factors to why creating a ‘Stats’ page can help you land top media site links, and those are:-
- You collect data by running your own surveys, accumulating existing stats, and connecting the right dots, making this piece of content unique to you.
- Sometimes, this data can help you draw divergent conclusions compared to older data. Hence, a fresh piece of advice backed by relevant data can attract many eyeballs.
- There’s no way that most marketers and business owners will go above and beyond to create one (or) two pieces of such content. Hence you’re taking that extra yard to provide value.
Here we would like to share some screenshots of our previous clients with whom we have created a post on ‘XYZ Marketing Stats of 2024’ (Sorry, we can’t disclose complete information)
Within 3–4 months of publishing the content, we got links from sites like Entrepreneur, Nasdaq, Mashable, and multiple other websites with high Domain Authroity (DA).
Even though we wouldn’t claim that we got those links out of thin air, we had to do a lot of work getting ourselves in front of those websites, but since our content had three major factors, which we’ve mentioned above, separating us from the rest. Therefore it helped us get backlinks from a few of the top sites.
Here we have already made it clear that we’re not going to follow the traditional PR pitches to gain quality mentions from top media sites.
But however, you need to be active in terms of pitching the editors of large media publications to let them know that you have a piece of content worth mentioning.
What if you’re thinking, are there other alternatives to creating a stats page? Actually, there are a few:-
- Add tools and software to your website which are relevant to your customers and also helpful.
- Add calculators or different kinds of estimators, or launch a free tool just for your audience. (An extravagant example of this will be Neil Patel acquiring Uber Suggest and giving it for FREE to his audience initially)
2) Use HARO To Get Into Publications
If you’re someone who has already read our case studies. Then you know what’s HARO.
But if you’re that ‘awesome’ someone who has also read this post on ‘HARO: A Platform To Build High-Quality Backlinks,’ then you must be aware of how HARO works and how you can use it yourself.
In case you’ve read neither of our two articles, we would like to brief you that HARO is a place where multiple journalists trying to create content for their own platforms ask different queries to their resources, which could be ‘You’ (once you sign up on HARO).
As a resource, you can respond to their queries.
If they feel the context is relevant and your information is super-valuable to them. Then they will credit you with backlinks by using your quotes just like this,
Even though HARO has helped our clients get links from top publications, compared to creating ‘Statistical’ blog posts, you will have a higher possibility of generating multiple top-quality backlinks through ‘Statistical’ blog posts.
But despite that, we wouldn’t deny HARO being any less effective link-building strategy if you can compare it to the amount of time and effort you’ve spent building backlinks.
Then, HARO stands way ahead of every other link-building strategy for the value it can bring you for the minimal amount of time spent on the strategy.
Wrap Up
Apart from the above two link-building strategies, there are still other strategies that can land you backlinks from top publication sites like Forbes, Entrepreneur, HuffPost, etc. We’re currently working on the other few and will give an update once I get the results.
However, for now, if you’re someone who has just stumbled across these two strategies and want to replicate same results with your brand. Please book a call with us, we can help you achieve same results for your brand too.
